I know it has been a bit of time since the last post on the blog (I’ve been pretty absent from all social media lately).
Life is constantly surprising us around here..
I recently found out we will be having another beautiful addition to our family! So I thought this would be a great time to talk about coloring hair when you’re pregnant. How important it is to be aware of the ingredients of things you are putting on, and in your body during this time. I have always thought it was kind of crazy that people would be surrounded by chemicals in a salon, let alone working in that all day, most days, when you are pregnant. I am so happy I use Organic Colour Systems hair color line for so many reasons, and now especially, because I can continue working throughout my pregnancy and not feel the effects of chemical color. OCS is bleach free and ammonia free hair color. There is no formaldehyde or formaldehyde derivatives, and it is packed with certified organic ingredients and plant extracts. You can visit their website and download a full list of their ingredients as well at www.organiccolorsystems.com
Don’t sacrifice your health and beauty or well being of that precious life growing inside of you.
It’s no secret that one of my main motivations for getting into the hair industry (hi, this is amanda!) was to work with our color line, Organic Color Systems. I’ve always loved doing color, but using harsh chemicals to do it became increasingly distant from my interests and life principles. When living in San Francisco (and working in a completely different industry), I found a great organic salon with an awesome stylist that used this color line and fell in love. I was so impressed with how I wasn’t exposed to nasty smells or harsh chemicals (usually accompanied by a massive headache in the process), how my natural highlights came through, and how soft and healthy my hair felt.
- certified vegan & cruelty-free by PETA
- ammonia-free with certified organic ingredients
- complete ingredient transparency (we have a handy guide breaking down every ingredient & its function in the salon)
- the company has a mission statement that matches our own
We feel incredibly lucky that this line is available to professionals and that Leah and I have created a space where we don’t have to sacrifice our integrity. Playing around with style and beauty is fun for us and we want to keep it healthy and kind.
